August 2008: Kayla launches debut EP at Edinburgh Fringe Festival
From the 4th - 14th August, Kayla is playing live at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she has launched her debut EP Stranger than Fiction.
The CD features five tracks taken from her live stage show of the same name, and will be available exclusively at her performances during her fortnight run. Kayla is playing 23 shows in 9 days, and will be performing at various venues across the capital city.
Both the EP and tickets for her shows are only £5. Digital downloads will be available from the 4th of August on the music page..
July 2008: Kayla selected as featured artist on Sonicbids.com

June 2008: Kayla Kavanagh "Live from the Kampervan"
Since the launch of the debut single "Heavens Above/Fallen" in May, Kayla has been touring the UK in her Kampervan playing gigs across Wales, Scotland and England. Performing from the side of her yellow 1976 Volkswagen bus, Kayla performs as a 'one-woman band' using her array of instruments and technology. The tour covers ten VW Festivals across the country between May-September, and will be taking a stage show based on the forthcoming album "Stranger than Fiction" at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the first fortnight of August.
Kayla has been successfully promoting the single at the outdoor shows, often selling out after each performance - and will be featured in several magazines at the end of the tour, following her journey and experiences playing live from the Kampervan.
19th May: Debut Single Release

May 2008: Kayla begins UK Tour
On the 4th of May Kayla performed the first gig of her UK summer tour. Over the course of the next few months, she will be playing at various festivals and events both live from the Kampervan and indoor stage performances.
Highlights include a two week run at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival - the largest Arts festival in Europe where Kayla will take to the stage with live performances from her new album Stranger than Fiction.

April 2008: Kayla on The Lost Show podcast
Kayla was recently interviewed on a new podcast "The Lost Show", which features up and coming comedians and musicians from the UK. You can hear the interview in full here.
January 2008: Kayla live on BBC Radio
On Sunday 27th January Kayla was invited to perform live on BBC Radio's "Raw Talent - Introducing" programme. The show featured the debut of her new single "Fallen" (released May 2008) along with two live performances of "Heavens Above" and "Broken Dreams" from her upcoming album.
As well as playing live Kayla was interviewed about her Festival performances in the summer and discussion of the infamous Kampervan gigs. Photographs of the performance are now available in the Gallery.

January 2008: Kayla recording debut album
Kayla is currently in the studio recording her debut album, due for release in the summer of 2008. The album will contain tracks which have been written and performed over the past two years, and promises to reflect the eclectic variety of genres Kayla performs on stage.
The album captures Kayla's unique musical identity including rich harmonies, haunting melody, the use of vocoder, guitar, dulcimer, piano, flute, combined with the expertise of Producer/Engineer Nigel Pease. In March 2008 Kayla will be releasing the first single Fallen.

January 2007
One of Kayla's orchestral compositions 7/4 a secret was selected for workshop and performance at the annual Royal Music Association's Research Conference.
The piece was performed at a workshop by the Kokoro Quartet (Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra) at Bristol University in January 2007. You can watch the performance by clicking on the video clip (left).
Kayla continues to compose both for theatre and film, in addition to working on her debut album due for release in 2008.
